We break the design process down into three defined stages and you'll be guided through each step and advised of key milestones along the way to ensure we stay on track.

DISCOVER

Rather than replicate your current office model, this is the perfect opportunity to consider best practice and contemporary workplace design. The consultancy journey will provide us all the necessary data so that we can create your new office based on informed decisions.

There are three typical approaches that we can use to retrieve this information, each with varying levels of input from your business. 

 

  1. Design Brief meeting with project sponsors for a high level briefing

  2. Stakeholder Interviews with key decision makers for a management level briefing

  3. Team Workshops with business wide units for a local level briefing

 

In its simplest form we can meet with one or two people in your business and ask a series of questions to formulate a design brief. For a more detailed approach we can conduct interviews with department heads and for a business wide reach to access a broader audience view we can set up workshops or questionnaires to engage the entire business.

Before putting pen to paper we want to take some time to understand your people, your business and your key requirements to create a workplace strategy that works for you and focuses on what creates the best return for your business.

DESIGN

However, workplace design is more than simply space planning and selecting finishes. It should consider the human element of how people interact with the environment and each other, which in-turn informs the culture and behavioural shift towards the core business vales.

We break the design stage into 5 important phases and we will not start the next phase until the current one is complete and you are happy with it.

  1. Block stack & zoning

  2. 2D Space planning

  3. Concept design

  4. Design development

  5. Furniture & finishes

 

Block & stack zoning provides a high level overview of the organisational structure of the office layout and is an efficient way to ‘stress test’ different approaches. Two dimensional space planning provides the detail of every element in your office and forms the framework to the concept and design development, the concept presents the design with a story and identity that everything else relates back to and design development runs hand in hand with selection of furniture and finishes to make up the final piece of your new office design.

Once we know all about you we'll translate those requirements into your new workplace which will reflect your brand, inspire your staff and enhance your bottom line.

DOCUMENT

Everything we produce in documentation stage will reflect what has already been discussed and agreed during the previous two stages.

 

There are again five key phases during the documentation stage that cover pre-construction through to hand-over.

 

  1. Statutory approvals

  2. Architectural documentation

  3. Architectural review & sign off

  4. Services coordination

  5. As-Built documentation

 

Before proceeding too far with documentation we’ll obtain architectural certification and ensure all statutory approvals are in place, from here production of all drawings, details and schedules will be produced for client review, sign off and tender. Mechanical and electrical coordination is an important step to ensure the services align with the design intent and once the construction is complete a full set of ‘as-built’ drawings and documents are produced for your records.

A typical architectural package could consist of over sixty pages, and it's important to get these details right at this stage so that construction runs smoothly on site.
